PsalmsPs 72
Psalm 72 · Deus, judicium
72:1 GIVE the King thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the King's son. 72:2 Then shall he judge thy people according unto right, and defend the poor. 72:3 The mountains also shall bring peace, and the little hills righteousness unto the people. 72:4 He shall keep the simple folk by their right, defend the children of the poor, and punish the wrong doer. 72:5 They shall fear thee, as long as the sun and moon endureth, from one generation to another. 72:6 He shall come down like the rain upon the mown grass, even as the drops that water the earth. 72:7 In his time shall the righteous flourish; yea, and abundance of peace, so long as the moon endureth. 72:8 His dominion shall be also from the one sea to the other, and from the River unto the world's end. 72:9 They that dwell in the wilderness shall kneel before him; his enemies shall lick the dust. 72:10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall give presents; the kings of Arabia and Saba shall bring gifts. 72:11 All kings shall fall down before him; all nations shall do him service. 72:12 For he shall deliver the poor when he crieth; the needy also, and him that hath no helper. 72:13 He shall be favourable to the simple and needy, and shall preserve the souls of the poor. 72:14 He shall deliver their souls from falsehood and wrong; and dear shall their blood be in his sight. 72:15 He shall live, and unto him shall be given of the gold of Arabia; prayer shall be made ever unto him, and daily shall he be praised. 72:16 There shall be an heap of corn in the earth, high upon the hills ; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass upon the earth. 72:17 His Name shall endure for ever; his Name shall remain under the sun among the posterities, which shall be blessed in him; and all the nations shall praise him. 72:18 Blessed be the Lord God, even the God of Israel, which only doeth wondrous things; 72:19 And blessed be the Name of his majesty for ever: and all the earth shall be filled with his majesty. Amen, Amen.
First LessonIsa. 65:17
65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 65:18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. 65:19 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. 65:20 There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. 65:21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. 65:22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 65:23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
Second LessonRev. 21:1–14, 21–27
21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 21:11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 21:12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 21:13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 21:26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
